- Drink lots of water-dehydration can cause mental performance to deteriorate.
 - Caffeine affects brain chemistry and can increase mood swings, anxiety and hyperactivity in children (and adults J) and it can promote dehydration.
 - If you are going to eat sugary snacks like candy, fruit juice or soda, have them with a protein snack like a handful of nuts.
 - Avoid deep-fried foods-they make your brain sluggish.
 - Keep a food journal for/with your kids. Document behaviors and the foods they eat, within 5 minutes to 2 hours of the behavior. Sometimes limiting or eliminating certain foods can make all the difference in behavior and mood!
 - Include a multi-vitamin in your daily regimen. Take only multivitamins free from coloring and additives.
